Movin' On Up
12:51 PM
Everybody's doing it. I've been wanting to do it for a while, but didn't want to pay the money unless it was really worth it. Then I found out it's only $10/year. That, I can handle. So, I now on the domain name www.blogginboutbooks.com . It may take a couple of days to update, so if things are a little wonky around here, that's why. Blogger automatically re-routes traffic from the blogspot.com address to this new one - you should probably still update your feeds, though. I wouldn't want to lose you :)

Comments make me feel special, so go crazy! Just keep it clean and civil. Feel free to speak your mind (I always do), but be aware that I will delete any offensive comments.
P.S.: Don't panic if your comment doesn't show up right away. I have to approve each one before it posts to prevent spam. It's annoying, but it works!

Bravo! Who did you purchase the domain name from? I always wondered how to go about doing that. Did you buy several years in advance?
ReplyDeleteCongrats!
Congratulations on your new domain name!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I've been wanting to make it a .com for a while now. It's actually really easy to do. Since a couple of you have asked me how to get your own custom domain, here's what I did:
ReplyDeleteIn your Blogger dashboard, click the "Publishing" tab. At the top of the page that opens, it should say something like: "Switch to a custom domain." If you click on the link, you will be walked through the process step-by-step. It's very, very easy. Your blog will then be hosted by GoDaddy.com (I detest its commercials, but I didn't have a choice here). GoDaddy charges $10/year. You only pay for 1 year at a time, although you can sign up to have it automatically renewed.
If you do a little searching on the Web, you can find articles on the pros and cons of getting a custom domain on Blogger. I don't understand all the tech-y stuff, but supposedly changing to a custom domain makes your blog run faster, among other things. I've only had mine for 1 1/2 days, so that's about all I can tell you. Maybe other bloggers who have been using a custom domain could chime in??
