2024 Build Your Library Reading Challenge
Huh? Friday? Again?
On the reading front, I've finished several great books. I'm actually way ahead in writing/posting reviews - well, in posting anyway - so you'll have to wait a bit to see what I have to say about Matched by Ally Condie, The Clockwork Three by Matthew J. Kirby and Touch Blue by Cynthina Lord. I can't wait. In the meantime, we have my two favorite book bloggy events:
This week, our hostess Jennifer asks: When you read books in a series, do you have to start with the first volume?
- My answer is yes. I'm just anal that way. I cannot, will not, do not - ever - start a series at any point but the beginning!
Parajunkee, host of Follow My Book Blog Friday asks about our yearly book-buying budget.
- Um, huh? Do people have those? I don't have any set amount that I spend/don't spend. Actually, since I have so many review books weighing down my shelves, I haven't bought many books this year. I'd say I spent maybe $100 this year and those were either gifts or books published by companies with whom I do not have a relationship.
If you're here because of either of these events, welcome to Bloggin' 'bout Books. If you're here just because you love me, well, thanks :) Have a look around, leave me a comment, give me a recommendation, and, most of all, have a great time. Enjoy your weekend!

Comments make me feel special, so go crazy! Just keep it clean and civil. Feel free to speak your mind (I always do), but be aware that I will delete any offensive comments.
P.S.: Don't panic if your comment doesn't show up right away. I have to approve each one before it posts to prevent spam. It's annoying, but it works!

Good Morning Susan!
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday.
New follower here. I'm doing all three of the Friday blog runs. I don't limit myself to budget with books. I just love to read and write so that line is always doable for me. And Yes, I love start a series at the 1st book.

ReplyDeleteHi, Susan! Thanks for stopping by my blog :)
ReplyDeleteWow, that is one busy week you had! I hope you're weekend is a little more relaxful.
Best,
Kelsey
Thanks for following. I have followed too! :)
ReplyDeleteI don't like to set an amount to buy books either. I like to spend however much when I find books I like. Usually that's only 2-3 books per visit.
I don't always start with the first. Not always necessary, but I like to do so usually.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by. Thought I'd stop by and say Hi!
Hi Susan, thanks for dropping by my blog. I don't have a book budget any more. I tried, but I wasn't strong enough to stick to it, was always trying to find ways around it, so I gave it up.
ReplyDeleteHi Susan! I'm so glad to have found your blog via the hop! I'm now a follower. Looking forward to stopping by. :)
ReplyDeleteHere's my blog if you'd like to check it out: Daisy Chain Book Reviews
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog. I also am following your Newbery blog. What fun! I've always wanted to read all the Newburys and Caldecotts.
ReplyDeleteI think we all like to start at the beginning! :D
ReplyDeleteI do have to go in order as well.!
Happy book, blog hop weekend.
Just hopped in to say hi and to wish you a wonderful weekend
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting - I'm now following you back :)
ReplyDeleteI can dive right into the middle of a book series if the series' story
ReplyDeletedoesn't run chronologically.
That is to say, if each novel in a series is a stand-alone story (like Lee
Child's Reacher novels) then I don't feel the need to start with book one.
On the other hand, a series of books (like Richard Hatch's Battlestar
Galactica novels) can't be read out of sequence since each new book builds
upon the story of the previous entry in the series.
Happy Book Blogger Hop Friday!

confession time: I was gifted the second book of Harry Potter (on tape) just before our move to Seattle (years and years ago...) and didn't realize it was the second in a series until we'd already been hooked.
ReplyDeleteand an annual book budget? whatever! If I have the money for a book TODAY - I buy it... If I'm broke... well, okay - I probably buy it anyway... I'm horrible like that!
Hi, stopping by for the Hop and new follower. Hope you are having a lovely weekend.
ReplyDeleteHopping thru...
ReplyDeleteI'm the same way about series. I have to start from the beginning.
I'm a new follower!
