What Could Be Better Than 1000 Posts From Yours Truly? How About An Amazon Gift Card?
1:00 AM
Yep, it's true. This is my 1000th post here at BBB. I know, I'm kind of blown away, too.
This blog has come a long, long way since the day I created it. It's opened the doors to so many great opportunities - from getting to interview bestselling authors to having portions of my reviews published in magazines and books to just being able to talk shop with other bibliophiles. It's been an amazing trip. I can't wait to see the blog evolve even more between now and my 2000th post!
Because I'm incredibly grateful to all of you for making book blogging so fun and rewarding, I thought I'd host a little giveaway to celebrate this momentuous occasion. What am I offering? How about a $25 Amazon gift card? I wish I could send one to each of you, but, since my last name isn't Trump, I've only got the one. Still, it's a nice little prize, no?
Okay, so, if you're interested in throwing your name in the (proverbial) hat, here's what you do:
1. Leave a comment on this post answering the following question: What one book do I have to read this year? It can be a new release, a classic, whatever. Just give me a good must-read title to add to my always-growing TBR pile. Doing this will earn you one entry. P.S.: If you do not have a public blog, which you update frequently, please leave an email address in your comment so I have a way to contact you.
2. I'm not going to make you follow my blog or Like my page on Facebook or any of that stuff in order to get extra entries (although I would, of course, be honored if you choose to do these things), but I will give you points for spreading the word about this contest. For every method used (Facebook, Twitter, your blog, etc.) you will receive one extra entry into the giveaway.
3. That's it! Other deets: The giveaway will run until January 20 at midnight. The contest is open to all of my readers, wherever you happen to live. Good luck!

Comments make me feel special, so go crazy! Just keep it clean and civil. Feel free to speak your mind (I always do), but be aware that I will delete any offensive comments.
P.S.: Don't panic if your comment doesn't show up right away. I have to approve each one before it posts to prevent spam. It's annoying, but it works!

You might like R K Narayan's great novel The Man Eater of Makgudi. it is set in India in the 1930s and is is really hilarious and beautifuly written.
ReplyDeleteA Game of Thrones is a really great book.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your 1000th posts and thanks a lot for the giveaway!
Happy New Year!
We follow you and have you on our blog roll. So nice of you to give away a gift card!
ReplyDeleteOur must read for 2012 is INSURGENT by Veronica Roth, author of DIVERGENT. We look forward to it!
1000 Posts- that´s a lot! Good work, greatings from Sweden and Anna
ReplyDelete1,000 posts - wonderful! Congratulations, Susan! I always enjoy reading your thoughts on books. OK, what one book - well, I would like to suggest one mystery series. I won't pick a "one" book because my favorite is always the latest one. But, in my opinion, they need to be read in order. So, I suggest the mystery series written by Louise Penny and set in Three Pines, Quebec, Canada. The first book is STILL LIFE. I love this series and Louise's writing gets better and better.
ReplyDeleteThe book I have to read this year? Bitterblue by Kristin Cashore. Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteOne of the best books I read this year, can't believe I had not read it earlier, is the classic Count of Monte Cristo by Dumas. What a great novel. If you haven't read it yet, do put it on your list.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway, and congrats on 1000 posts. Impressive!

If you haven't read it already, I would recommend Birds of Paradise by Diana Abu-Jaber. It was the absolute best book I read in 2011. I loved it! Congrats on 1000 posts - what a milestone! And thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI dont really care if I win... I mean, it would be great and all that, but really, I just share a love for all things BOOK and love to spread my favorites around. I think the #1 book from my list to yours should be Austenland by Shannon Hale. As far as I can see you haven't read it yet. Otherwise Blue Castle from LM Mongomery (better than the Anne of Green Gables books). LOVED them both this year, EVEN if they are both totally cliche. I think that was part of the charm for me...
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to many great books this year, but one I read this past year and that we're doing for our book club is Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford. Loved it!
ReplyDeletebgh (at) byu (dot) net
Have you read The Red Tent yet? I loved it!
ReplyDeleteNot sure if you've read it yet or not, but one of my favorite books is Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your 1000th post!
YOU RULE. Thank you so much for the contest!
ReplyDeleteI highly recommend A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin. Don't let the massive length or the fact that it's Adult High Fantasy fool you...it's super rad.
Congrats on 1000 posts!
1000 posts? That's awesome!
ReplyDeleteI super loved Theft of Swords by Michael Sullivan. It's a bit more traditional fantasy than I think you usually read and the start of a trilogy, but would definitely recommend it.
If that's not your style, I also super loved Saving Fransesca by Melina Marchetta.
I did a quick search of your list..did you read Rules by Cynthia Lord? I really liked that one a lot.It was on my top 5 for 2011.
ReplyDelete1000 Posts! Thats amazing. I get 99.9% of book ideas from bloggers like you. Thank you.

The Submission was one of my favorites of 2011. It was excellent. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI have to read Insurgent by Veronica Roth. Divergent was creative, and it filled the void in my reading life that Hunger Games left. Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteJust one??? That's going to be hard. Hmmmm...
ReplyDeleteI'd vote for "Nevermore" by Kelly Creagh. It's a YA fantasy unlike any other I've read. The dark atmosphere, the creepiness, the writing of Edgar Alan Poe, the slow-developing and sweet romance, great character development...I adored this book. And the sequel (Enshadowed) is supposed to be out this August after a delay in its release date. Be warned: the cover is very emo-tastic and I think it scares people off. Don't let it! It's a great book.
Ok, I blogged about your giveaway here:

Can't wait to see which books you add to your TBR pile. :)
I just finished "The statistical Probability of falling in love" in one sitting! It is really good!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for Sarah Pekkanen's new book "These Girls".
ReplyDeleteYou should try The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. It was my favorite read of 2011. My email is cjhansen3(at)att(dot)net.
ReplyDeleteOooh! An old friend of mine from my childhood - an LDS author! - is working on her 2nd book in a trilogy (I think it's called Unbound series) and her name is Jessica Bradshaw; the book is Hazy Shade of Winter. I'm really looking forward to her second, and if you're LDS, I'm guessing you'll probably like it too; very LDS without anything in-your-face. Anyway, good luck! :)
ReplyDeleteI agree with Kristin, The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight was sooo good. You should check out Graffiti Moon by Cath Crowley too, it's another one of those I-just-can't-put-this-freaking-book-down-because-it-is-so-good.
ReplyDeleteI have to get my hands on Fever by Stefano.
ReplyDeletebrandileigh2003@yahoo.com
Definitely The Selection by Kiera Cass!
ReplyDeleteTaraTagli at gmail dot com
Congrats on 1000 posts! What a milestone!
ReplyDeleteI'd recommend The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie. I haven't quite finished it, but so far I love it.
Thanks for the killer giveaway.
You absolutely have to read "Unwind" by Neal Shusterman. It's incredible. Following the lives of three teens as they desperately try to avoid the process of "unwinding".
ReplyDeleteI'm super psyched for this giveaway
sabrinabertsch'at'hotmail'dot'com
Have you read When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead? it's my favorite middle grade title. If you don't read Middle Grade, I'd definitely check out Ashes by Ilsa J Bick or John Green's books. :)
ReplyDeleteUnbroken by Laura Hillenbrand or The Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls. Anything by Lynn Austin- love her books
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 1000 posts! That is an awesome milestone.
ReplyDeleteYou should definitely read Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys this year. It was my favourite YA book in 2011, and is a great historical read as well.
Congrats to 1000 posts!Awesome work!
ReplyDeleteUmm..I don't really know which book to recommend to you, most books I read recently are already reviewed on your site :DD..but recently I read a book, which I loved and wasn't there: Fifty Shades of Grey by E L James. It's an adult book, 18+ actually, but there is so much more to it!It's my favorite romance book which I read this year!First I truly was afraid of it, but after I couldn't stop reading! I truly recommend it, if you haven't read it yet.
Happy New Year!

Congrats on the 1000+ post - what a milestone!
ReplyDeleteOn of my fav books for 2011 was The Violets of March by Sarah Jio. What a beautiful story.
Thanks for the great giveaway!
Congrats on 1000 posts!
ReplyDeleteI loved Purple Hibiscus by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.
I would recommend The Selection by Keira cass and The Thorn and the Blossom: A Two-Sided Love Story by Theodora Goss both books are 2012 release which I'm anticipating. Hope you'll enjoy it too.

Have you read any Eva Ibbotson yet? If not, that would be my MUST READ recommendation: All of her adult/YA books! (There are six.) I think I recommend starting with "A Song for Summer"....
ReplyDeleteTry The Demon King by Cinda Williams Chima. It's YA fantasy, which I don't normally go for anymore (because I prefer paranormal), but the storytelling is just so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteA noteworthy accomplishment! 1,000 blogs!
ReplyDeleteLove your celebration, too.
I'm reading Forged in Fire by Trish McCallan which is great, especially if you like alpha heros. But if you want something lighter, filled with "laugh out loud moments" according to RT's 4.5 star review, try The Throwbacks. Just saying.
stephaniegiancola2@yahoo.com
You should read The Time Traveller's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger! It's my all time favourite book! =)
ReplyDeleteMy email is rosey203@hotmail.co.uk. =)
Hi: Heat Lightning by Helen R. Hull. Fantastic story by an under-appreciated author who is regaining some attention (she died in 1971) - jump on the bandwagon! Happy reading, Ruby
