I have to have interest at least. I will go with the hype if it is a new genre I am interested in trying, eg Hunger Games. I realised Dystopian isn't for me but I understood the hype.

Yeah, I'm always tempted to give in but if it's something I wouldn't normally read I probably won't read it.

Hype makes me nervous, but if a popular book actually sounds interesting, I'll put it on hold at the library. My anticipation grows as the 89 people before me in line read it. If it's really that good, I feel satisfied. If it turns out to be a dud, I can take it back with no regrets.

I usually research 'hype' books, therefore, I know what it is about, and decide from my research whether or not I will read it. I did that with the "Fifty Shades" and found out it definitely would not my cup of tea.

I also enjoy reading outside my comfort zone. And sometimes a "viral" book is a good way to find something new, but I really prefer not to read something that millions of other bloggers have read within the last month. I'm more like you - if it does interest me I will get to it when I can, not rush out and acquire it just because everyone else is.

And I'll never read Fifty Shades either!

I read 50 Shades and you're really not missing much so no worries. I'm pretty similar. I read what I want, regardless of hype.
